Learn Make Poison
Make Poison is a tradeskill exclusive to Rogues. You craft combat poisons — damage-over-time effects, debuffs, and stat drains — using a mortar and pestle. Minimum level 20 to begin.
Containers & Equipment
All poison making uses a mortar and pestle or a poisoncrafting table. Several options exist:
| Container | Notes |
|---|---|
| Mortar and Pestle | Basic container, vendor-purchased |
| Marble Mortar and Pestle | Recommended — portable, common |
| Acrylia Mortar and Pestle | Acrylia Caverns drop |
| Collapsed Mortar and Pestle | Collapsible for inventory space |
| Poisoncrafting Table | Stationary, found in crafting halls |
| Poisoncrafting Table (Placeable) | For your house/guild hall |
| Guild Poisoncrafting Table | Guild hall version |
Modifier tool: Geerlok Automated Pestle — adds 5% to your base skill. Does not stack with trophy benefits; only the highest modifier applies.
What You Can Make
Poisons apply to your weapons and proc in combat. Categories include:
- Damage-over-time poisons — sustained damage procs
- Debuff poisons — stat reductions, slow effects
- Direct damage poisons — burst damage on hit
- Utility poisons — snares, disease counters
Poisons scale with skill level. Higher-skill recipes produce more powerful effects with longer durations or higher damage.
Getting Started
Two paths to skill 54 at no cost:
- Crescent Reach (recommended): Find Poisoner Kamuzu on the second floor of the main building. Complete his four introductory tasks. Free skill-ups to 54.
- Abysmal Sea: Alternate freebie quests available for the same skill range.
Once at skill 54, head to West Freeport and hail Event Coordinator Baublie Diggs to start the Beginner Toxicologist Trophy task.
Skill-Up Path Overview
| Range | Method |
|---|---|
| 0–54 | Crescent Reach freebie quests (free) |
| 55–300 | Purchased and dropped components, increasing complexity |
| 301–350 | Recipe discovery system, learning unique recipes |
Skill cap: 350 at mastery. Reaching 350 requires learning 543 of 748 total Make Poison recipes.
Key Recipes
Poison recipes use combinations of vendor-bought reagents and dropped components. Ingredients include vials, reagent bases, and mob-dropped toxins. Consult the Quick Trivial List for a full breakdown of recipes sorted by trivial level.
Trophy Progression
Your Toxicologist Trophy evolves as you make successful combines:
- Must be equipped to evolve — sitting in your bags does nothing
- Only successful combines count toward evolution
- Trophy will not evolve on recipes more than 100 trivial points above your current skill (until you reach skill 250)
- Trophy modifier and Geerlok Automated Pestle do not stack — only the higher bonus applies
